IGINIIT ng International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) na kailangan nang maplantsa ang gusot sa Philippine volleyball.
Kaugnay nito, sumulat si FIVB general director Fabio Azevedo kay Sports Vision president Ricky Palou, organizer ng Premier Volleyball League, na nagpapahayag ng intensyon nito na resolbahin ang matagal nang suliranin sa naturang isport sa bansa.
“The FIVB would like to emphasize that it shares the concerns of volleyball stakeholders in the Philippines regarding the current state of the national volleyball federation there,” sabi ni Azevedo sa sulat niya kay Palou noong Disyembre.
“The FIVB wishes to resolve this issue as soon as possible so that the relevant stakeholders can focus on growing the sport of volleyball in the Philippines, which the FIVB believes has great potential for the future,” dagdag ng FIVB official.
Nauna nang nagtakda ng miting ang FIVB sa pagitan ng “provisionally-affiliated” Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Inc. (LVPI) at “suspended” Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) ngayong buwan, subalit na-move ito sa Marso.
Sinabi ni Azevedo na magpapadala siya ng FIVB delegation para makipagkita sa mga lokal na opisyal upang maresolba ang problema.
“After the 2018 FIVB World Congress, the FIVB discussed this issue with the PVF, LVPI, the Philippine NOC (Philippine Olympic Committee) and the Ministry of Sport (Philippine Sports Commission),” ayon kay Azevedo.
Handa rin umano siyang personal na magtungo sa bansa kasama sina Jizhong Wei, Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, Stephen Bock at Jaime Lamboy upang maayos na ang deadlock sa pagitan ng PVF at LVPI.
LVPI president Joey Romasanta has long said he had welcomed the move and showed his readiness to provide documents and meet the requirements to gain full membership status.
Ayon kay Azevedo, pareho pa rin ang status ng LVPI at PVF simula noong 2015, “since the FIVB board of administration provisionally recognized the LVPI” matapos itong kilalanin ng Philippine Olympic Committee bilang “sole governing body” ng naturang sport sa bansa.
Nagkaroon ng mga hiwalay na proposals upang tuluyang mapatalsik ang PVF at LVPI ngunit hindi pumayag ang FIVB World Congress.
